As business owners we all know that there’s a very strong link between the quality of leadership and workforce productivity. But according to recent research published by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) just 25 per cent of small business owners invested in leadership training in the last year.
And even though according to the Office of National Statistics UK labour productivity, as measured by output per hour, grew 0.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2016, we are still lagging behind our G7 colleagues by some distance.
Add to this some research published by Warwick Business School in 2015, that found that current levels of management and leadership skills are holding businesses back, it all makes rather grim reading!
