Things We Care About
The pressure on people in all walks of life to survive is enormous and the gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ is getting wider. A worrying development in our view, especially in this day and age, and as much as we’d like to support every charitable organisation obviously we can’t. So we give back in any way we can.
A respected provider of palliative care for residents of Cheshire West and Chester and Deeside, the Hospice provides services free of charge to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Helping patients, friends, families and carers through difficult and painful times, providing practical, emotional, social and spiritual support, the work that they do is truly inspiring.
Kirsty Craig is a trustee, chairs the HR and Remuneration Committee and has been involved for three years now. With more and more people living with and surviving cancer than ever before, the hospice is adapting its facilities and services to account for these developments thus making increased volunteer support even more vital.
Training dogs to detect the odour of human disease, Medical Detection Dogs is at the forefront of the research into the fight against cancer and helping people with life-threatening diseases.
Fundraising is essential to the charity’s survival and to continuing to train their bio detection dogs. We’ve experienced the work they do and the support that they offer, and it’s truly life changing. We currently donate on an ad hoc basis, but longer-term we’ll be giving a certain percentage of our fee income to this very worthy cause.
Previously known as Moneypenny Foundation, We Mind the Gap helps unemployed young people to make the move from being ‘prisoners of circumstances to pilots of their own lives’. We Mind the Gap’s unique approach to people development brings new opportunities in life and work to young people currently limited by choice and circumstances.
Kirsty Craig invests her time in delivering mock job interviews with the trainees, educating and helping them to broaden their horizons, increase self-confidence and develop their ambitions.
